JIM and CLAIRE
Jim and Claire are a retired (55+) couple without kids at home but a grandchild on the way. They hail from Northern Virginia. They love the amenities and activities available at The Vineyards: Jim likes going to The Vineyards’ gym to work out in the mornings, followed by a coffee and newspaper at Barnes & Noble. Since moving to The Vineyards, he has focused on a healthy lifestyle and can now run three miles around the lake and feels fitter than ever! Claire loves the outdoor landscaping and the wine tastings at the community center. She has met tons of new friends who also live at The Vineyards, and whom they see at local events. Jim and Claire have two children who both live in the Washington D.C. and come down to visit quite a bit during the summer.
Jim and Claire’s daughter is expecting a baby and loves the fact that her parents live at a community with so much outdoor space and parks, as well as restaurants and shopping. She’ll be able to walk the baby in her stroller easily without having to fight the summer traffic.
Jim and Claire’s son is not married and comes down all year round on different weekends to meet with friends and socialize. They are planning on hosting their extended family reunion at The Vineyards next summer and it works out perfectly – if there is overflow, extra guests and family members can stay at the hotel at The Vineyards.
Ava
Ava is twenty-five, single, and works as a cardiology nurse at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. The Vineyards was an affordable housing option for her that also offered no-maintenance landscaping, restaurants, shopping, a fitness center and the comfort that other young people moving to the area live there too. She has enjoyed the boardwalk around the lake, the outdoor concerts at the ampitheater, and laying out at the pool listening to her iPod. She is close to work and doesn’t have to fight traffic in the summer as she can head straight down Savannah Road, avoiding Route One altogether when the traffic is heavy. Friends come to the Vineyards on the weekends for shopping and lunch. It’s great because all the people working at Half-Full wine bar know her, so when she gets off of work and wants to relax, enjoy a glass of wine and chat, she feels comfortable.
She is really proud of buying her first home and financing it was easy through the options available at The Vineyards. She did all the research for her new residence on the web from nursing school in Philadelphia, and found The Vineyards website to be the easiest, most interesting, and most suited to her lifestyle. She knew that she wanted to move to the beach because she summered here with her family from Pennsylvania and worked at a variety of summer jobs around town before going to nursing school. Ava is excited about being a first-time homeowner and feels like the Vineyards is a perfect fit for her in terms of location and lifestyle.
William and Emma, daughter Jessie (6) and son Aidan (4), with dog Boomer
This young family, area locals, who were attracted to the community since William is a broker at Merrill Lynch who can walk to his office located in The Vineyards, therefore spending more time with his family. He is interested in becoming a wine connoisseur and loves having access to the private wine cellar for residents. Emma is an elementary school teacher and takes advantage of the onsite daycare for her son Aidan. They are environmentally conscious and like the fact that they are using less fuel and there are so many activities to do outside during the day and evening.
Emma takes full advantage of the fitness center and has met other moms with whom she often goes out for a glass of wine and appetizers after yoga class on Tuesday nights. Aidan loves the outdoor park and his little pals at the daycare. Running with and walking Boomer around the Dog Walk is a daily afternoon activity with Jessie after she gets home from school at Shields Elementary in Lewes.
